I don't think I could have been at a better place for NYE than here. They killed it. It's a shame it was their last "final" show, at least until their "resurrection" tour in a few years. Ha!

This was my first time shooting the Staples Center and ended up having to shoot with my heavy zoom lens ABOVE my head. My arms hurt like hell today. I'm one of those short people who were made for step stools and I ALWAYS forget mine for certain venues where the photo pit isn't in front, but BEHIND the floor, at the sound board. Holding a 200mm lens over your head is not easy. Time to start attaching that step stool to my damn hip!

Also, after the first two songs, I snuck my camera to my seat instead of checking it in like media is supposed to because I'm a rebel and there was NO way I was about to miss an epic balloon & confetti drop. I didn't get where I am today by following the rules.

Had I done that, I would have missed this: Tommy Lee got stuck upside down on his drum roller coaster. Of course he finished his solo because he's Tommy Lee, but he ended up having to climb down the railing. He was totally cool about it. It made for some good "final show" humor. My mom uploaded video to YouTube, you can see that here.

They also did the countdown at 12:05am. Haha! I love it. Totally worth the 5min wait though.

#Epic.
